Children's Ministry at Christ Church offers fun, educational and social opportunities for children ranging in age from nursery through 4th grade.

Nursery care is available for infants and toddlers every Sunday beginning 15 minutes prior to the start of the Christian Formation hour and ending 15 minutes after the conclusion of Worship.  Children age 4k through 4th grade may attend Sunday School all year round at the same time as the adult classes.  Children 4k-1st grade use a Montessori based curriculum called Godly Play

Children in 5k thru 4th grade use a lectionary based curriculum called WHIRL.  WHIRL uses short videos, worksheets and activities to bring the bible lessons to life.

E-Kids (3rd-4th grade) and Jr. E-Kids (5K-2nd grade) events are held throughout the year, as well as special parties and events that follow the church year, and are open to children of all ages. Vacation Bible School is held during the summer and is open to all children in our community age 4k-4th grade.

The Episcopal Youth Community (E.Y.C.) of Christ Church is a place where students currently in 5th-12th grade can grow in, and connect with, God through Christ. We deepen our relationships with our Lord and one another through games, theological discussion, study, fellowship, and breaking bread together. Whether it is midweek Bible studies, Sunday morning Christian education, or other events, E.Y.C. is a place for being oneself in a safe, fun, and loving environment. We also take trips out of town, attend Diocesan youth functions, and participate in local service projects. Mission is also a very important and central aspect of our E.Y.C. time together. We are blessed to have wonderful sponsors and teachers who truly care about our kids, and who give freely of their time and talents.

Contact David Beadle at with any questions on how to get involved in our wonderful programs.

Our youth community is built around three age-specific groups for most programs, studies, activities, and trips.  Youth currently in 5th & 6th grades are considered “Fish.” Our 7th & 8th graders are placed in Junior E.Y.C. and all students in 9th-12th grade are considered part of Senior E.Y.C. Students in these grades, as well as their friends, are welcome to join us for any and every activty, program, or trip offered in our youth community.

Our Sunday morning program runs from 10:00-10:50 a.m. each Sunday throughout the school year. During the summer, Sunday School begins at 9:00 a.m. with worship services following at 10:00 and 10:05 a.m. All E.Y.C. groups meet on the 4th floor of the Grelling-Spence building for a light breakfast and fellowship. From there each group moves into their own classrooms for our weekly lessons.

Wednesday night programming runs every Wednesday night throughout the school year (unless otherwise indicated on calendars and via email updates). All 5-8th grade students begin with an optional dinner ($5 charge) at 6:00 p.m. on the 4th floor of the Grelling-Spence building. Group studies begin at 6:30 p.m. and parents may pick up downstairs when we conclude at 7:30 p.m. Our 9-12th graders meet at Rudy's Barbeque on the West Loop from 6-7:00 p.m. for dutch treat dinner and discussion.

Every Spring Break and Summer we take a variety of local and foreign trips to serve our neighbors both in the Tyler area, across Texas, and around the world. Our Jr. EYC serves St. Vincent’s House, an Episcopal Outreach Center in Galveston each year while our Sr. EYC serves St. Paul’s Anglican School in Corozal Town Belize. All our youth team up each summer to reach out to our neighbors here in Tyler and Smith County during Tyler Mission Week and we were pleased this year to have the youth of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Flint join our efforts.
